About
Nomadic Artisan is an illustration-led branding studio established in 2018. People rarely remember features. They remember stories, atmosphere, rituals, textures and how a place made them feel, so we create brands that become love letters to places, people and experiences.
Devni Jayakody is a Sri Lanka–based illustrator and the founder and lead designer. She has a BA in Design and an MA in Illustration from Falmouth University, UK, and has worked with Manchester City Football Club, Jetwing and the Galle Literary Festival.
How we work
- Discover: we listen first, learning the audience, environment and story beneath the surface.
- Define: insight becomes direction through brand analysis, a concept sketchbook and prototypes.
- Deliver: identity system, logo, typography, colour, illustration and guidelines, then final handover and feedback.

the studio
we asked, the studio answered
Where does it all start?
On the south coast of Sri Lanka, with a pencil, a place and a story worth telling.
Long walks, salt in the air and a lot of tea.
Pencils, tracing paper and a very old ruler.
identities with a sense of place
Logos, colour and type, rooted in a place
A brand should feel like somewhere you have been. We start with the place, the people and the story, then draw our way to a name, a palette, a typeface and a logo that belong together.
The result is an identity that holds up on a menu, a sign, a key card and a phone screen, and still feels hand-made.
Branding should feel like somewhere you have been.
Strategy, logo system, colour, type and a guidelines book.
maps you want to wander
Illustrated maps for places worth finding
Hotels, heritage sites, festivals and books: every map is researched, sketched and drawn by hand, with small details tucked in for people who look closely.
Every landmark, path and tiny character is there for a reason.
Every tiny detail has a story.
Hotels and villas, heritage sites, festivals and books.
Illustration is the identity, not the decoration.
Illustration is the identity, not the decoration. Each drawing carries part of the brand.

What is on the shelf?
Prints, postcards and little maps, packed with care and sent from the studio.
Tissue, string and a handwritten note.
